KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Kingsport City Schools has announced three school administrative appointments, effective July 1, 2019.

Dr. Kelley Harrell has been named principal of John Adams Elementary School.  Dr. Harrell most recently served as principal of Ridgeview Elementary School in Washington County, TN.  Throughout her educational career, she has served as a middle school teacher at West View School, an assistant principal at Boones Creek Middle School, and as an assistant principal and principal at Boones Creek Elementary School.

“We are excited that Dr. Harrell will bring her wide range of skills and experiences to Kingsport City Schools,” said KCS Superintendent Dr. Jeff Moorhouse.  “Her track record of school success, effective use of data to drive improvement, and focus on professional development will be an asset as she engages with the Adams community in this leadership role.”

Dr. Harrell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from East Tennessee State University (ETSU), a Master’s Degree in K-12 Education from Tusculum College, an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from ETSU.  She replaces Mrs. Christy Free as principal at Adams, who is relocating out of the region.

"I am honored and excited to join Kingsport City Schools and serve as principal for John Adams Elementary School," said Dr. Harrell.  "I look forward to working with the John Adams family to ensure continued success and high expectations for all students."

Dr. Kyle Loudermilk has been named principal of Andrew Jackson Elementary School.  Dr. Loudermilk has most recently served as associate principal at John Sevier Middle School.  Previously, Dr. Loudermilk has taught at the elementary level, served as a data analyst for the Tennessee Department of Education, and was an associate and interim assistant principal at Ross N. Robinson Middle School.

“Dr. Loudermilk has proven himself to be an effective leader that focuses on high levels of engagement and student success,” said Dr. Moorhouse.  “Throughout his career with KCS, he has consistently reflected both a high degree of character and skill as he leads through service to students, parents, and staff.  We are excited he will bring that passion for excellence to the Jackson community at this important time.”

Dr. Loudermilk holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from East Tennessee State University (ETSU), a Master’s Degree in Administration from Union College, an Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University, and a Doctorate in School Leadership from ETSU.  He replaces Dr. Krissy Turner as principal at Jackson, who is relocating out of state.

“I am extremely humbled and honored to be joining the Jackson Elementary community,” said Dr. Loudermilk.  “I look forward to building relationships with the staff, students, and parents that will foster an environment where all students can learn and grow.”

Dr. Stephanie Potter has been named principal of Thomas Jefferson Elementary School.  Dr. Potter has most recently served as Director of Professional Learning for Kingsport City Schools.  Prior to that post, she taught in Lee County and Scott County (VA), served as associate principal at Robinson Middle School, and as Principal at John Adams Elementary School.

“As both a school and a district leader, Dr. Potter has exhibited great skill in leading both students and adults to higher levels of learning,” said Dr. Moorhouse.  “As the new principal, we look forward to seeing how she will positively impact the Jefferson Elementary community in ways that will engage and support learners in all ways.”

Dr. Potter holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts Studies from Carson-Newman College, a Master’s Degree in Education from Tusculum College, an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration from Lincoln Memorial University, and a Doctorate in Teaching and Learning from Liberty University. She replaces Mr. Mike Fulkerson as principal at Jefferson, who recently announced his retirement from KCS.

“I am honored to once again be entering the role of principal in Kingsport City Schools,” said Dr. Potter.  “I am looking forward to joining the students, staff, faculty, and families of Jefferson Elementary in the continued commitment to a culture of growth, learning opportunities, and innovative thinking through leadership, creativity, and discovery.”
